Spartan Of The Month 6/21

Sentinel Class Of 1974 Spartan Of The Month

Debbie Brown and Preston Jones

I am putting a bit of a spin on our Spartan Of The Month for June.  We all need to have a bit of variety in our lives from time to time.  The month of June we will be highlighting not one but two Class of 1974 Spartans.  Debbie Brown and Preston Jones will be our Spartans.

Keeping Up With The Jones

The phrase, "Keeping Up With The Jones" is a favorable phrase for this fun and adventerous couple.  To recognize two people who have built a fun, beautiful and loving life together is something to treasure and admire.  The story of Deb and Preston is a sweet and special relationship meant to be.

Although Deb and Preston were not high school sweethearts but met in May of Senior year, they became sweethearts.  After four years of running the halls of Sentinel High School they were not meant to be together until after the crazy high school years.  Deb was employed by First State Bank and Preston was an employee of Little Chief Gas Station.  Everything in life is meant to happen for a reason and that is what happened for this couple.  Preston was a customer of the bank and Cupid worked wonders by shooting arrows of love that hit Debbie and Preston.   In August of 1975 Deb and Preston became one.

For a time Deb worked for the Child Support Enforcement Division of the Department of Revenue and later left the work force to be a full-time mom to two sons, Shane and Kevin.  In 1987 Deb became the Bowling Manager for Westside Lanes later beginning employment with Glidewell Insurance where she has spent the past 29 years selling Medicare, health and life insurance.   Deb will be retiring June 2021.  Congratulations!

Preston was employed by Smurfit Stone for 35 years (originally Hoerner Waldorf) and then later Champion.  Due to the unfortunate shuttering of their doors Preston became employed by Halliburton in North Dakota where he was employed for a few years and later ending his work history and career at Dailey's Meat in Missoula.  Preston  has been retired for 2 years!

Deb and Preston are lucky and happy to be blessed with 6 grandchildren, 4 of which live in Missoula.  For Deb and Preston being grandparents is the highlight of their lives.  Shane, the oldest of their two sons lives in Phoenix, Arizona and is involved with computer technology.  Kevin, the younger of the two sons, lives in Missoula with his wife and kids and is employed as an RN at Missoula Community Hospital.  Deb and Preston are so blessed to have such a wonderful family.  Debbie's parents are alive at the ages of 90 and 89.  Preston's parents passed in the mid 1970's.

Debbie and Preston own a cabin in Thompson Falls where they love spending summers boating and relaxing with family and friends.  Preston was the master carpenter of their paradise on the river.  In addition to relaxing at their cabin they enjoy hiking and are looking forward to more hiking, traveling and relaxing when Debbie retires.

As you can see it would be hard to match a love story like Deb and Preston's.  They are an example what life is and should be for all to have the opportunity to experience.  Friends and family are so blessed to have this couple in their lives.

Thanks Debbie and Preston for sharing your fun and adventerous life!
