Kim Wilson (Olson)

MISSOULA — Kim Olson, 61, a beautiful daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, died in her sleep Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, in her Missoula home.

Born Kim Wilson on May 15, 1956, in Missoula, Kim attended Emma Dickinson and Russell grade schools and graduated from Sentinel High School.

She married Alan Teigen and the two had a daughter, Melissa, in 1974. They later divorced and Kim married Gary Paulson and had her second child, Sadie, in 1979. She and Gary were divorced and Kim later married Jim Adair with whom she had her third child in 1982, a boy, James Adair IV. She, Jim and the kids moved from Missoula to Helena where they lived for 14 years. Kim and Jim were divorced while living in Helena and she married Kevin Olson. She lived with Kevin and her kids in East Helena, later moving to Richland, Washington, and Jaco, Costa Rica, for seven years. Kim moved back to Missoula in 2006.

Kim had a quick wit, a sharp sense of humor and generally enjoyed almost any social occasion. She loved people and spent her working life in retail sales in Helena and Missoula. She had a wide social network and enjoyed her relationships with friends and acquaintances from all walks of life. She had a great curiosity about people and a big and caring heart for many.

She loved to travel, especially if there was a beach close by. A stylish woman, she would turn almost any occasion into an opportunity to dress up and wear something from her collection of shoes and fine jewelry.

Later in life, Kim enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and had a unique ability to entertain them with her playfulness and quirky ways. She was particularly proud that they never called her grandma, but always “Tricky,” the nickname they gave her.

Kim was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin “Dufe” and Gloria Wilson of Missoula. She is survived by her daughters, Melissa (Dennis) Leithold, and their children, Brendan and Gavin, Portland, Oregon, Sadie (Geoff) Thurman and their children, Ella and Kellan, Yorktown, Virginia, her son James Adair, Big Sky, and her brother, Kurt Wilson, his wife, Karen, Missoula, and their daughter, Holli, Las Vegas, Nevada.
